Keith Chambers has been our Minister at Berachah Church since January 1993. Keith was converted in 1966 and has been doing the Lord's work ever since.

Keith Chambers has been our Minister at Berachah Church since January 1993. Keith was converted in 1966 and has been doing the Lord's work ever since.
The longest period of consistent ministry stretched from 1954 to 1990 when Stanley Jackson was pastor. Since his death in 1990 a small band of workers have maintained the cause, acknowledging the goodness of God in providing the means for the work to go on. These friends, including the late pastor's wife, Rose, who herself departed this life in 2007, continued to maintain the work of gospel ministry at Berachah. Since 2005, some of these friends have moved away and are now teaching in London.

We believe in the Bible and that it is the inspired Word of God and that the way of Salvation is through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ accompanied by true repentance. We teach from the Bible to encourage both believers and to help those who are seeking the truth.

We believe in the Bible and that it is the inspired Word of God and that the way of Salvation is through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ accompanied by true repentance. We teach from the Bible to encourage both believers and to help those who are seeking the truth.
Although we are an independent free church, we are baptistic in principle, believing that baptism by immersion is for those who have come to an understanding of the truths of the gospel and have repented of their sins. The church adheres to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith which gives a comprehensive summary of Biblical doctrines and practices.
The mode of public worship we follow is traditional and ordered, consisting of prayer, hymn singing, bible reading and a preaching service normally led by the pastor/Minister.
The purpose of worship is to praise and honour God and give Biblical instruction for the members of the congregation.
The Authorised (King James) Version of the bible is used in our public services as we believe this to be the most accurate and God-honouring translation; also, it has stood the test of time. We use a hymn book that contains reverent hymns from the reformed tradition.

In the early part of the 20th century a group of local Christians used to attend the church at John Street (between the lower end of Ordnance Street and Fort Pitt Street), but felt the need for a place of worship nearer to their homes.
In the early 1930's, a Mr Goodwin led the new work, having cleared his builder's work-shop in Dale Stree
In the early part of the 20th century a group of local Christians used to attend the church at John Street (between the lower end of Ordnance Street and Fort Pitt Street), but felt the need for a place of worship nearer to their homes.
In the early 1930's, a Mr Goodwin led the new work, having cleared his builder's work-shop in Dale Street for the Purpose. As numbers grew, the "Dale Street Mission", as it was known, moved to its present site. The foundation stone for the building you see in Neville Road today was laid in 1935.
